We are seeking Ceramics Engineer II candidates capable of leading and contributing to design and development of materials and integrated solutions to meet and exceed our customers’ applications. QorTek Ceramic Engineers are involved in the design, measurement, and improvement of every step of our process, including brainstorming concepts, simulating designs, fabricating/testing prototypes, and final parts manufacturing and assembly. As Ceramics Engineer II you will be leading and collaborating with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, subject matter experts, and the manufacturing team members in a fast paced and innovative environment.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Research, Development, and Production Support
- Assist in driving a scientific approach to development of new technology.
- Assist in data interpretation and decision making in iterative design approaches.
- Material Development to achieve performance and process optimization goals
- Internal Development efforts related to innovative process implementation and optimization
- Perform and document established methods with technicians, engineers, and quality staff to close information gaps between engineering and production personnel.
- Drive repeatability in production capabilities by identifying, documenting, and controlling key input and output variables on uncontrolled processes.
- Implement statistical process controls where viable and set control limits.
- Material Characterization to identify out of control processes and support process optimization goals.
- Streamline traveler / report generation to reducing burden in existing models & calculators.
Quality System Support
- Assist production and quality teams in identification of accuracy and/or precision deficiencies.
- Assist engineering and quality in identification of new equipment to support further stabilization of production capability in business-critical areas.
- Drive development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated documentation to support our ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
- Assist in internal auditing and corrective action of audit findings to ensure quality system compliance is maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in Material Science, Materials Engineering, Acoustics, or related program at the Bachelor or Master level.
- Extensive experience in use of basic material characterization tools such as XRD and SEM.
- A wide technical understanding of how equipment works, along with an aptitude as well to effectively operate new equipment with training in a short period of time.
- Time Management skills and ability to stay focused and productive to meet organizational and program goals
- Flexible, self-motivated with a strong sense of agency in conjunction with ability to run and contribute to multiple projects
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences internal and external
- Experienced data driven individual – Detail oriented, time and cost conscious and committed to continuous improvement
- Experience in the use of Computer Applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.
- Hands on approach to troubleshooting and correcting technical problems.
- Ability to handle safely (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull) up to 25 lbs. in an active lab environment
